‘The flames will have no chance’ Kobedi
Botswana U17 coach Kaizer Kobedi has warned the Malawi U17 (the
junior flames) team that they will not have a chance to progress in the second
leg of the African youth championship match in Kaberone Botswana.
The junior flames go into the second leg of the match on an
upper hand, following their comfortable 2-1 victory against the zebra’s on Saturday
at Silver Stadium.
However, the zebra’s U17 coach Kobedi, expresses his belief
that the trip to Botswana will be the end of the road for the junior flames.
“We lost the game because we did not know our opponents, now
that we have seen Malawi, I am sure will beat Malawi, will beat them. I have
seen the way they (Malawi) play and I am sure by the time they come in Botswana
will finish them off. I am happy with the score margin and for sure will get
the job done”
“We lost our key player in the early stages of the game, but
this time around he will be available.” he said
When asked for his comment on what the Zebra’s c coach said,
the Malawi U17 coach john Kaputa said that he is unfazed with Kobedi’s remarks.
However he expressed worry over the omission of five key players from the squad,
as they were ruled ineligible in the eleventh hour.
“Remember that was just his thoughts, as Malawi we will go
in Botswana very confident. We are not afraid of what they are saying. My only
worry is that, five key players from my starting lineup were ruled to be
ineligible in the eleventh hour.
“The information which was given to us by FAM was that, the
players must be those who were born starting from 1995, but when the match
commissioner from CAF came said according to CAF’s regulation’s they recommend
those who were born starting from 1996, so I had to call some players who were
out of camp for the game.” he said
The five players who have been omitted from the squad are
two strikers, Kondwani Phiri and vice Captain Taonga Malenga, two defenders Kondwani
Chilinguwo and Innocent Chumba and second chice keeper Samson Mayola.
However, despite the changes to his squad, kapuuta is
confident that the replacements which have been brought in will step up for the
challenge.
The returning leg of the African youth championship between
Malawi and Botswana will be played kaborone Botswana in two weeks time.
